Rewatching some of The Phantom 2040 recently and it’s crazy how relevant the themes of the show are with today especially with the whole environmentalism preservation aspects and AI/Robots taking over peoples jobs and becoming sentient, with how many bots are on the internet 80% of the net is botted and I don’t think that’s undeserved with how mindless most people on the internet already are. but it feels to close.

The product of abandon children in a society pushing towards an ever engrossing techno dystopia with the hero having jungle African “grassroots” in origin a nice contrast, and of course corrupt news and mega corporations fooling the populous. I’d put this show up there with Batman beyond, Not to mention the grimey dark/ Peter Chung art style missing from modern animation. 35 episodes with an actual conclusion, not bad for a show in a era where a cartoon could get Cancelled for any random reason whether due to lack of toy sells or network time slot meddling.
