There are often so many lies and flat out misconceptions about image comics to this day in the ripe year of 2026 from “comicbook fans” it’s hard to really tell if they’re comicbook fans and not just marvel and dc fans which really ain’t the same thing at all. I just saw a recent video about image comics didn’t watch it just went straight to the comment section and it was filled with the same lies perpetrated by the internet from people who’s only knowledge of image it’s that very brief 1991-1992 period with the celebrity worship, the missed deadlines, the derivatives characters, bad stories yatta yatta and some that isn’t true besides the deadline thing.

But these people will take those same old talking points and apply it to the entirety of image as if the beginning of something is supposed to represent the entirety of a 30+ year old company’s history, ludicrous. I saw one guy say he read a couple issues of spawn literally the first 2 and say the whole company has bad writing lol. That’s like me picking up a random sliver age Batman comic where he’s jumping around in a rainbow spandex with batmite and saying all of DC is trash, never reading the long halloween, knightfall, dark knight returns etc. The reason I bring that single isolated comment up is because a lot of people genuinely think that way, ignorant unaware of what they’re even remotely talking about and people just as ignorant and just as unknowledgeable will regurgitate the same lies like bots. You tell yourself a lie long enough everyone starts to believe it!

Image Comics has always had a vast array of comics even besides superheroes but people with zero knowledge of what they’re talking about or are just rabid dc and marvel fans never comprehend that basic truth. There’s a reason why through the 90s so many comic companies sprung up and didn’t survive the decade malibu, crossgen, kitchsink, even chaos comics of lady death fame eventually. Yet Image comics still exist 30 years laters, the creator driven format being a huge plus, it’s not rocket science.
